ernie gives back...

last weekend was a very fruitful to yours truly. it was an eye opener to yours truly also as this the very first yours truly visit to charity home. honestly, i was scared to death. i don know what to expect. how i would react to this orphanage and old folks. will i cry when i hear their sad stories? will i run away if they are trying to embracing me? will i just stood there watch them? thousand possiblities playing inside my head through out the whole week. however, i over come all the fear and doubt by getting tips here and there from the people who actually involved with charity before.

my company visited charity home as and when to see how was the condition of their living and at the same time helping them with some token. every 1% of total sales that we closed, we will channeled it to charity. it's karma thingy i believe. when you gives back, you get more. cycle of life that is.

saturday's visit started with the persatuan orang kanak kanak dan warga tua wilayah persekutuan visit in kepong. previously, a group of my colleague did visited this particular house. it was in good condition as i had heard. however, it turn out to be not the same anymore. it was deteroriating. the person who runs the house maintained the house with his own pocket money. the condition of the kids is, secuse my word, bad! i only could bring to joy and smile to their heart and face. we spent time there to get to know them. asking about their school etc.

after that we proceed to agathian house in pj. we gotten a very warm welcome from all the boys (agathian house is for boys). they all sat in one corner. 5 mins later, they all warm up and we all start playing games etc. it was such a good feeling to see the smile on their face and also to listen to their laughter. my colleagues and them play this interesting games which require thinking and strength in all your 10 fingers.. hehehehe.. something i have not played for soooo long and i cant remember the name though!

after agathian house we break for lunch at lotus restaurant. hmmm.. ok la the food, i have taste better.. :)

after lunch we procced to pj caring hom at pj as well. this house is for old folks (men). it completely another an eye opener to me. i promised to myself that i would not let anyone that is close to me have to go through all this i.e. to be placed in old folks home. they do not socialise that much but i can sense they want to just the social barrier? i don know. we sang 2 songs for them. kau ilhamku by man bai and i have a dream by abba. and then uncle william (one of the resident at the home) eagerly to sing for us. he sing an elvis number. wah wah.. it was so geng! then another uncle want to sing also. he sang beautiful sunday.. hey hey hey beautiful sunday!! heheheh... classic!

after this house, the coordinator request us to come to the another pj caring home where old folks/diasble women are residing. we went there and was overwhelmed with the greeting that we received from them. we sang the same song earlier. then one of them eagerly to sing and the another.. everyone sing along and it was a nice feeling.

why i said that this is an eye opener to me is because i always imagine on how is the life in charity home. would it be like oliver twist or bad or worst? last weekend i have the opportunity to see it with my own eyes. and i must say that it was sad but with our visit i believe they would forget abt the problems and lonliness feeling they have. it really worth it!

the weekend that was...

meant to pour out my weekend story, but was tight up with a lot of stuff and also i slept very early past few days (see all my postings, it all rather at wee hrs in the morning). anyhoos, not really looking forward for last weekend actually as i do not have any plan for it. so, i planned to chillexs at home and laugh, cry and sing along AF!

sat morning, went to genting with yandaro (he's my colleague) to racee venue in genting. it was nice drive and arrived at the venue and start snapping pictures (no time to be a cam whore tho). on way back, i asked him to take me go through ulu yam as i want to know where the heck is that place. well, we pass by and definitely i am going there soon. pass by one dam (i don knw which one) and they have kayaking/boat activities. this make me sooooooooooooo wanna go there!

got home, i was tired and decided to take a nap. told adrian to plan sum' later. then ivan told me he needed to collect his iPod 'condom' which arrived a week ago. ok, so it's the curve then. curve was usually pack and hardly get a parking spot. since we around the area, we decided to watch 'blade of glory' at midnight show. since we still got time after ivan picking up his iPod condom, we sat at starbucks and have a ice latte. sat and chit chat to kill time.

now, back to 'blade of glory'. the movie was like... omfg, sooooooooooooooooooo fagaliriously-insanity-crazy-slapstilicious-funny! am friking serious! definitely good movie to watch if u okayed with gender-bender thingy. no harm tho!

sunday woke up at 11 am and i was soooooo lazy to got up from bed. it felt sooo nice to sleep. today, me planned to go to one utama. adrian also needed to go there to ummm.. get his jusco card (check) and one utama privilege's one card (check). ivan tag along as he needed to get stuff. walk around, had mcdee ice cream and then ken's called.
me: yes sir!
ken: hello, how are u?
me: am good le.
ken: ok
me: yes sir, what's up?
ken: wanna come for dinner?
me: urrr.. i don knw wor. lemme asked someone first
(discuss, discuss, contemplating, discuss)
me: ok, around what time ar?
ken: 730pm or 8 pm?
me: ok
ken: i'll sms you my address le
me: ok.
ken: ok. see u then.
(then i sms him, do you need us to bring anyhting. 'sparkling juice' will do.)
(then another sms from him, 'hey make it 730 pm, we hungry already :))

after jalan jalan at one utama, we heading to ken's house at sri maya condo. well, i thot this is going to be simple meal. however it turned out to be a home cooked meal. prawn, squid, vege and sweet and sour pork!! hehehe.. and oh oh soup as well. hehehehe.. after tummy singing happily with all the food, relaxing watch tv. then ken told us to stay still as he going to bring dessert.. it was home baked waffle with ice cream with blueberry.. extraliciously sinful!! after the sinful dessert, time to go as it was getting late. adrian needed to get his stuff ready for monday work. shut my eyes at 130 am and sun rise and it brand new day and brand new week!

soundbytes exclusive: reba mcentire

first american idol, kelly clarkson has given country music's diva, reba mcentire a blessing to remake her hit song 'because of you' and popularise it in country genre. during american country music awards a couple of nights ago, both of them performed the song for the first time live on stage. it sounded not that good compared it to the album version.

this remake has a mellow version than the kelly clarkson's version. definitely this song will captured the heart of country music lover especially reba mcentire and kelly clarkson fan.

watch the performance here.

listen to 'because of you' here.

the 'saman' weekend

what did i do last weekend?

oh my, i had the longest weekend ever! last tuesday and wednesday was a public holidays and i took leave on thursday and friday as i needed to running some chores.

on sat, i went back to office to attend first aid training conducting by a colleague of mine. it is a good session as we were taught how to react or giving first aid in the situation that needed before the paramedics arrive. we learned step by step a proper CPR procedure.

ivan came to see my studio and went beserk over the fact that my apartment is so comfy. i decided to go to the curve to check out pants that suitable for shirt that i have for the wedding on sunday night. yes, i have to attend wedding on sunday and trying to find something according to theme of the wedding is nuts, nuts and nuts. however, i found the most comfortable and nice linen long pants from 'passages' metrojaya. kaching RM89.90 with free alteration.

while we are waiting for the pants to get altered, we walk around hsl and check out stuff they have. ivan was eyeing on mp3 player and decided to check out iPod. after contradicting here and there, he finally decided to get 30GB black iPod. it was an instant-i-will-not-regret moment. he totally satisfied with it.

heading home and its time to get ready to go to groom's house for family and close friend's dinner reception. fyi, the groom is my colleague. anyway, the reason i was there also cos i was one of the videographer for the wedding event and also yours truly appointed to be 'heng tai' for the sunday reception. had dinner and chit chat and leave at abt 11ish and meeting up ivan, linda, linda's bf and adrian at dharoos for drinking drinking session.

early sunday morning, i woke up and getting ready for the big day. packed sony videocamera, tripod and get myself ready. it was pouring earlier on, and still drizzling when i left the house. make my way with the other 2 'heng tai' to cheras. since we are still early, we stop by for a breakfast. once we got there, almost everyone was there. we were told earlier on that we will be given pink tie (i was so delighted when i heard about the news). i make a different statement. i wore a white tee with black pants and put up the bright pink tie... look weird however, it was bold and daring move. i have a reason why am doing it (pssstt, i do not own any white shirt as to me white shirt will definitely turn yellow after sometimes). we made our way to taman desa to pick up the bride. to be honest, this is my first ever chinese wedding. it was fun to see how the 'chee mui' of the bride 'play' with the groom before he could reach to the bride. after all done and tea ceremony and picture taking session, the newly wed couple made their way to the temple. then head back home. simple tea ceremony was done for the groom side.

for the night event, arrive at the noble banquet early. do my part and get ready for the night. it was good with everyone eat, drink and merry merry. yum seng all the way. the highlights of the night would be, the newly wed couple who beaming whole night, entertaining their guest. am happy that everything run smoothly although some hicups here and there (sorry, am an event producer so i tend to look at things from the production side) but its all ok. leave at about 11 pm with tiring arms (recording video) and feet (standing).

i will post more pictures soon, but mean time you can have a peek below on some picture that i took..

(when i first saw you by jamie foxx - taken from dreamgirls ost)

i feel so happy and relieved after i finally made my decision. i've been thinking a lot and procrastinate about it. and tonight i finally decided that, this is it...

weekend during weekdays

had a good 2-day holidays with adrian.

on tuesday we went out to have lunch at hong kong food culture restaurant located at low yat plaza. yummy and the portion is just nice for that day. after that we went to see spider-man 3 at imax theatre (it's 2d in case you all wondering). done with movie we walk around the mall and decided to eat dinner as both of us hungry. we went to one of the restaurant at pudu. the restaurant's specility is steam boat. it was a good dinner.

steamy steamy steamboat

the evening was nicely planned. i told him i want to go to ikea for jalan jalan session. so, we went to ikea and end up coming back with pictures frames and wall shelf. went back and we did a little deco to our studio. we wanted to go to genting but both are lazy to go and ivan supposed to go with us also couldn't go as his aunt still at his house.

on wednesday, woke up to nice morning and weather. decided to have sushi for brunch. and we went to genki sushi at one utama for brunch. after that we walk around one utama. looking for stuff. finally, i bought aviator sunny. i have been scouting around for the one that suit me.

my new aviator

then i decided to go to ikea (again) cos i wanted to get a light for the wall-shelf. so, off we go and we end up (again) not only getting the lights, but also new chair for our study table. spontaneously i suggest to go genting and yes this time it is on. leaving to genting around 4ish with adrian and ivan. when we got there, the weather chilly enough and it foggy all the way. we wen to to try motion master (which to me is soooo lame and short). then oogling over the flying coaster. it was fun to see people having fun at the flying coaster. we did some calculationg and analization shit about the flying coaster. we came to conclusion, in order for the flying coaster to move faster and more thrilling, there is need to have 4 passenger at one time. went to gohtong jaya for dinner and had salty fish fried rice. came down and it is raining outside.
