my company visited charity home as and when to see how was the condition of their living and at the same time helping them with some token. every 1% of total sales that we closed, we will channeled it to charity. it's karma thingy i believe. when you gives back, you get more. cycle of life that is.
saturday's visit started with the persatuan orang kanak kanak dan warga tua wilayah persekutuan visit in kepong. previously, a group of my colleague did visited this particular house. it was in good condition as i had heard. however, it turn out to be not the same anymore. it was deteroriating. the person who runs the house maintained the house with his own pocket money. the condition of the kids is, secuse my word, bad! i only could bring to joy and smile to their heart and face. we spent time there to get to know them. asking about their school etc.
after that we proceed to agathian house in pj. we gotten a very warm welcome from all the boys (agathian house is for boys). they all sat in one corner. 5 mins later, they all warm up and we all start playing games etc. it was such a good feeling to see the smile on their face and also to listen to their laughter. my colleagues and them play this interesting games which require thinking and strength in all your 10 fingers.. hehehehe.. something i have not played for soooo long and i cant remember the name though!
after agathian house we break for lunch at lotus restaurant. hmmm.. ok la the food, i have taste better.. :)
after lunch we procced to pj caring hom at pj as well. this house is for old folks (men). it completely another an eye opener to me. i promised to myself that i would not let anyone that is close to me have to go through all this i.e. to be placed in old folks home. they do not socialise that much but i can sense they want to just the social barrier? i don know. we sang 2 songs for them. kau ilhamku by man bai and i have a dream by abba. and then uncle william (one of the resident at the home) eagerly to sing for us. he sing an elvis number. wah wah.. it was so geng! then another uncle want to sing also. he sang beautiful sunday.. hey hey hey beautiful sunday!! heheheh... classic!
after this house, the coordinator request us to come to the another pj caring home where old folks/diasble women are residing. we went there and was overwhelmed with the greeting that we received from them. we sang the same song earlier. then one of them eagerly to sing and the another.. everyone sing along and it was a nice feeling.
why i said that this is an eye opener to me is because i always imagine on how is the life in charity home. would it be like oliver twist or bad or worst? last weekend i have the opportunity to see it with my own eyes. and i must say that it was sad but with our visit i believe they would forget abt the problems and lonliness feeling they have. it really worth it!
